Thomas Electronics SQM-100 Screen Quality Monitor
system satisfies a large range of measurement
requirements and permits complete testing and analysis of
CRT screens in both rastor and stroke mode. The SQM-
100 is a turn key system that includes a computer controller
with a CRT screen rastor/stroke generator and a CCD data
acquisition camera controlled by a synchronous shutter
generator. Also included is a five axis computer controlled
positioning system which allows for quick connect and
disconnect of CRT model configurations. Screen
information is displayed using a Windows user interface
and screen analysis results are graphically displayed as
well as written to text files and Paradox database files.
Complete CRT screen analysis is achieved in less than 5
minutes.
System Components
Screen Rastor / Stroke Generator
For complete versatility, the QMS-100 incorporates drive
electronics for both a rastor screen generation and a stroke
screen generation.
Synchronous Camera Trigger Generator
The QMS-100 Camera shutter is precisely controlled with a
synchronous camera trigger system that generates an
electronic shutter signal to the camera in sync with the
horizontal raster of the CRT screen.
Mechanical Camera and CRT Screen Fixture
Precision positioning control stages provide travel for the
camera in the focus (X) axis and the CRT Screen in the
horizontal (Y) and vertical (Z) axis. Additional two axis
precision tilt control is offered to the CRT Screen. To offer
easy portability, the Camera and CRT Screen mounting
fixture is only 24" x 8" x 10" and weighs less than 25 lbs.
The fixture flexibility offers fast and easy interchangeable
CRT screen mounts.
System Software
The SQM-100 system runs on a Windows 2000 platform
where a Graphical User Interface (GUI) permits easy point
and click operation and control of the system. CRT Screen
analysis data is generated in text file reports, Paradox
database, and also displayed in full color graphics for easy
interpretation.
CCD Camera
The SQM-100 Camera is a digital 8 Mega pixel 2300 x
3500 CCD with synchronous shutter control and a 50mm
lens. A CRT screen element size for a 0.51” screen is 8
microns, square.
Computer System
The SQM-100 is integrated with a 1.8 GHz Celeron
Pentium 4 processor and an 18" monitor.
CRT Screen Analysis
Screen Analysis Stroke Mode
Fully automated Windows based software analyzes the
spot size and line width in stroke mode. Results are
reported to a text based report, Paradox database and full
color graphics for easy interpretation.
Screen Analysis Rastor Mode
Fully automated Windows based software allows the
system operator to identify a screen blemish with point and
click operation. A complete blemish analysis includes size,
contrast ratio and separation. A screen blemish map is
generated with zone definitions. The CRT Screen results
are reported to a text file report, Paradox database and
also displayed in full color graphics for easy interpretation.
