URSA CRT OEM Comparison
The Thomas Electronics 7M514P46 for telecine equipment is a
direct bolt up to any standard URSA demountable package. It uses a
single phosphor with a spectrum virtually identical to the existing
URSA tubes. There are no modifications or swap outs of components
necessary to use this tube with virtually any telecine equipment.
Spot size is slightly smaller than the original telecine equipment
CRT (improved resolution and focus) and light output is essentially
the same.
Afterglow is within the normal correction
range of URSA and TWiGi. SCANdal and TWiGi both work well with
no modifications needed. Since this is not a mixed phosphor tube,
you do not have to worry about overload in Red and Blue on a
TWiGi or cell box, colorimetry is the same, and color fringing
due to lens limitations is as before.
Laminated CRT
The CRT is laminated to a 72mm / 2.8" thick IR matching optic
for minimization of optical flare.
High Voltage Connector
We have designed our High Voltage
connector adapter to make it easily interface to the old style
Brandenburg twist-on connector.
Our design is more durable than the old design and creates a quick
disconnect without snapping off the contact button inside the
connector barrel. This was a continuing problem with the existing
old design. We have designed our mating adapter to twist
on but cause no torque to snap off the old button. Telecine
engineers will appreciate this feature, especially if they have
ever had their connector damaged while installing a new CRT
in their telecine equipment.
