The Thomas Electronics Telecine MKIII Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) for old style tube cradles
is a direct bolt up to any standard MKIII telecine utilizing the old style
non-extended Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) cradle.
It uses a single phosphor with a spectrum virtually identical to the existing
telecine MKIII Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT). There are no modifications or swap outs of components
necessary to use this tube. Spot size is slightly smaller than the existing Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)
(improved resolution and focus) and light output is essentially the same.
Afterglow is within the normal correction range of the telecine.
Since this is not a mixed phosphor Cathode Ray Tube (CRT), you do not have to worry about
overload in Red and Blue sensors in the cell box, colorimetry is the same,
and color fringing due to lens limitations is as before. The Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) is held in
the old cradle utilizing our custom bezel that bolts to the existing cradle.
The Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) is laminated to a 72mm / 2.8" thick IR matching optic for minimization
of optical flare.
